Rick Melling, PE

Rick Melling, PE has been Owner and President of Melling Engineering, PC since 2005, and we recently celebrated our 10th anniversary!  During this time Rick has become well versed in consulting and engineering design of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire alarm systems for both new construction and rehabilitation of existing buildings.  For the nine years prior to founding Melling Engineering Rick worked for LMHT Associates in Durham, NC, an architectural and engineering firm known for its expertise in restaurant design.  During his time at LMHT Associates Rick worked his way from entry level mechanical designer to Chief Mechanical Engineer where he managed the plumbing and mechanical engineering group.

The typical scope of work for many of our tax credit apartment rehab projects is to provide design for upgrades to central plants, individual equipment, generators, and fire alarm systems.  We do this by replacing heating and cooling equipment, lighting, and plumbing fixtures in order to meet current codes and funding agency requirements, achieve energy and utility savings, and improve tenant comfort.
